Rubik's Cube Notations 2

Image
In this article, we will learn about advanced Rubik's cube Notations. If you want to learn basic notations then you can read this article . This article is divided into three parts Middle Layers, Cube Rotations, Wide Moves . Mid Layers:   There are three types of middle layer rotations E , M and  S E for Equitorial layer M for Middle layer S for Standing layer 2. Cube Rotations: These are used to rotate the entire cube altogether. X : Rotate the entire cube on R Y : Rotate the entire cube on U Z : Rotate the entire cube on F 3. Wide Moves: Turning two layers of a Rubik's cube at once. Wide move notations are either written in lowercase letters (for example  u, l, r, d, f, b ) or They are written with a 'w/W'  next to them (for example Uw, Lw, Rw, Dw, Fw, Bw ). Rubik's Cube Notation

Image
In this article, you'll learn how to read Rubik's cube notations and do them on a Rubik's cube.  There are six sides to the Rubik's cube and they all have different names represented by letters. So we have got:  U  for  Upper  D  for Down F  for Front B  for Back L  for Left R  for Right We use these letters to describe the rotation on the cube. And the combination of these letters makes an algorithm, which must be executed from left to right. Each letter simply tells you to move that face clockwise by 90 degrees. An apostrophe after a letter (like R' , said 'anti-right') tells you to move that face anticlockwise instead, and 2 after a letter (like B2 ) tells you to move that face by 180 degrees. Now let's take an example: If you take your cube and do this algorithm: R2 L2 U2 D2 F2 B2 Then your cube will end up having a beautiful checkerboard pattern on it. Something like this: Congratulations!!! Now you know how to read notations and im...

5 Best Cube Timers

Image
Solving Rubik's cube and puzzles is a fun activity, and timing your solves makes it more challenging and interesting. Now in official WCA competitions, speed stacks pro timers are used to time your solves and you can buy one for yourself but most of the people don't, as it's costly and in my opinion, the money to be spent on a timer could be used to buy better speed cubes or lubricants. (latest speed stacks G4 pro timer costs Rs.3349/- or $ 47) now if you don't buy any physical timers you most probably shift towards online resources and mobile applications. there are plenty of timers you can find online and I'll talk about them in another post. Now if you are not at home and don't have a stack mat with you the option available to you is using timer apps on a mobile phone. So here are the top 5 best cube timer apps that you must have on your phone. 1. Twisty Timer : Twisty Timer is a free customizable material design timer. It features a sleek, moder...
